Final

The final is simply a collection of your favorite work for the class. As you put this together, remember to (1) collect, (2) reflect, and (3) reject.

1. Collect
Gather the writing you’ve completed, in your workbook, for in-class practice (over 20 so far!) and consider the assignments you posted on this website.

2. Reflect
Look over your writing. Are there any themes? What statement could you make about the work? Can you think of a title? What’s your favorite? Anything you hate?

3. Reject
Choose the best from your in-class writing practice and omit anything that you don’t want to include, for any reason. You’ve worked so hard; there must be two or three writings that you like.

Finally, write a statement about your work. Any time you have put so much effort into a body of work, it’s a good idea to articulate, at least for yourself, what you’ve accomplished. We will work on the statements in class.

Suggested Format

  • Title and your name
  • Artist’s statement
  • Three in-class practice writings. You don’t need to type these.
