A Drum Battle is defined by two (or more) Drummers behind their own individual drum sets, drumming sequentially, and trying to “out-drum” the other drummers.
- Begin with all drummers playing together, complimenting each other.
- After playing 16+- or so (really as many as you want) bars each drummer starts off on their own, starting off with longer (16-24+) solos, each solo complimenting the previous opponents solo.
- As the battle goes on, shorten your solos gradually, until they become more and more shortened.
- Mix together, Play together, Hitting figures (rehearsed, unless you’re really in the groove.)
- End really big, epic and awesome.
Tips:
- Communicate a lot.
- Just have fun, it’s usually not for actually “beating” the person as much as it is to have a good time.
- Play with a band if possible, beginning and ending with them.
