EternalLight, photostory, Aug.’08

We take our Sun for granted everyday. It gives us warmth and creates energy on our planet everyday and it is an incredible product of our universe.  After I took a course in astrophysics, I was even more amazed, and I became in awe of our Sun. It as been estimated that the energy in the Sun’s core takes a million years to reach the surface of the Sun. The light and energy from the surface of the Sun travels to the Earth in approximately 8 minutes. After realizing that kind of alignment and universal balance,  I feel I am witnessing eternity at Sunsets. Along with the Earths unique atmosphere, our Sun produces spectacular beauty that has inspired writers from ancient to modern times. I think about how fleeting our lives our here and I am inspired to do more to make mine more compassionate towards people who are struggling everyday. I think back in time and try to imagine the sunsets over 1,000 years ago, and then even further back in time. And I think about the future, for there is enough energy in the Sun for another 3 billion years! It is the closest I may ever come to witnessing Eternal Light in our very midst. The beauty of our Sun is eternal.
