Introduction: What will be taught today is one of the most basic guitar chords, the A chord. Chords are a vital in order to learn how to play guitar. The A chord is easy to start with for beginning guitar players.
Supplies: A standard tuned guitar. A guitar pick (not required).
Directions: Before we begin there’s some explanations that are needed. When identifying strings on the guitars the strings are numbered from the bottom up (i.e the thinnest string is the 1st string and the thickest is the 6th). When playing, fingers are to be placed must be between the frets. Fingers must be pressed firmly on the fretboard to gain the correct sound.
1. Wrap your left hand around the guitar neck.
2. Place your index finger on the 4th string, 2nd fret.
3. Place your middle finger on the 3rd string, 2nd fret.
4. Place your ring finger on the 2nd string, 2nd fret.
5. After all fingers are in position, press down on frets firmly.
6. With a guitar pick or fingers, strum the all the strings except the 6th string.
If there is any “twang” or “muted” strings, more pressure should be applied to the frets. If not, maintenance from a professional might be needed to fix the problem.
