I think that you should be able to write numbers at any point, you can not confuse them with any words in number form.

I think that you should be able to write numbers at any point, you can not confuse them with any words in number form.
Many people follow this rule:
If the number is under 10, spell it out. (See Strunk and White.)
If the number is at the start of a sentence, spell it out.
