Step 1. Get a gun.

Step 1) Get a Gun

The debate rages as to what is the best defense against the living dead, but so far the best we’ve seen is your friendly neighborhood firearm. You can keep your distance from a zombie and avoid being bitten while inflicting a large amount of damage to the brain.

Step 2. Aim for the Head

Zombies are walking corpses, and don’t feel pain. Therefore, a shot in the heart won’t kill them, because there heart isn’t beating, and a shot anywhere else won’t slow them down, because it won’t hurt. The only way to stop a zombie is to destroy the brain.

Step 3. Kill it Twice: No Matter What!

The second shot could be the one that saves your life. Shoot it in the head and then shoot it again. The worst rookie mistake is shooting once and thinking the zombie is down, then surprise! It jumps up and you’re lunch meat. Which brings us to.

Step 4. Back away from the body and repeat step 2 & 3 as necessary.

DO NOT STAY CLOSE TO A ZOMBIE, MOVING OR NOT! Once you shoot twice, back a distance from the body. You never know when a supposedly dead zombie is going to jump up and attack. Back away and keep an eye on it for at least ten seconds, and shoot at the head again if it gets back up.

Tips for beginners:
