You know when you wake up in the morning and you’re craving that special breakfast, but you can’t put your finger on it? French Toast is what it is! You can’t go wrong with french toast. It’s the perfect breakfast food that just puts a smile on your face that lasts for the rest of the day. The best part about it is that you can make it right in your own home. Here’s How:
Things You’ll Need:
- Whole grain wheat bread (or you can get thick French Toast bread from your local grocery store as well)
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- Dash of Vanilla
- Olive oil
Preparation:
- First thing is get all your ingredients together in one spot!
- In a mixing bowl, crack the eggs, add the milk, and then the dash of vanilla. (How much vanilla you add is up to you, but if you put too much it might turn out bitter)
- Beat your mixture with a wire whisk until it’s nice and frothy.
- Pour about 1/4″ of oil onto your pan or skillet and let it heat up on medium heat.
- Dip your slice of bread into your egg concoction. Make sure both sides are drenched, but let it drip a little bit of the extras back into the bowl. (You don’t want scrambled eggs growing on your french toast)
- Place in skillet and fry till browned on one side and carefully flip it, it is easy to check it.
- Slide the spatula under the edge, lift and look, if the edge is browned it is ready to flip! Fry on other side till browned again.
- After both sides are brown, remove it from the pan and repeat steps 1-8 for as many slices of bread as you want.
When your meal is prepared, you can make some scrambled eggs and breakfast sausages and put them on the side. Some great toppings that go with french toast are:
- Butter
- Powdered Sugar
- Cinnamon Sugar
- Your favorite jam or jelly
- and my favorite…Maple Syrup!
- …or any flavor syrup you like.
Enjoy this very easy to make and even easier to eat breakfast! It’s the perfect breakfast to enjoy with your family and friends on a weekend morning.
