The web is ever changing, even in the last year many changes have occurred. So to speculate on what would become of the web in 5 years, well, science fiction plays a huge role. We tend to create out of necessity however efficiency also plays a big part, but imagination tends to drive creation. With movies and books depicting an environment where technology and human interaction are united across cities, where projections and transparent thin oled screens are our new medium in which we interact with, and hand gestures as well as voice command being more and more utilized and accepted.
Perhaps the web will stay the same as far as a huge mess of information, but how we interact with it will change dramatically. It can all move in the direction of mind operated interfaces, with the thought of it something can occur. However, i dont see it as the best option/direction. We still work best off traditional methods such as writing down on paper, so to neglect that entirely is a bit far fetched.
As long as we have some sort of platform to interface with, whether it be projected or on transparent oled screens, although i have a feeling the former will be the optimal choice, then design and such will most likely follow the same patterns it has for thousands of years.
